May 13, 2004 - May 14, 2004 Fishing Bay Harbor - nice marina. Doublewide is tied to a long dock, not in a slip. The dockmaster is friendly and very helpful. The docks aren't in great shape - splintery and needing of replacing, but they are adequate and with plenty of bumpers, Doublewide is safe.
It is really hot, in the 90's, but Roni and I walked up to the 'Doggie Walk' area and found a wonderful field so we HAD to go back and get a frisbee! She did her usual tilt-a-whirl and insisted on carrying it. The other great thing is that the field was right next to a spigot with an attached hose so that I could keep Roni cool. She normally doesn't like being 'hosed down', but she'd go over to the hose after a couple of tosses! She kept looking at the pool hopefully, but I couldn't get her to understand that they wouldn't allow her to go in the pool... Poor little Roni. Nobody else was using it....
I met a wonderful couple here, who are headed to Spain. She was the dealer for Valients in the Great Lakes region and has a lot of sailing experience. He is also very salty; they have crossed the ocean many times and plan to many times more. This is especially wonderful as he has recovered from pancreatic cancer. I will think of them frequently over the years and be wishing them well in their travels! Perhaps one day we'll meet up again. The sailing community is large but all things are possible.
All too soon it is time to cast off and go to the next stage of the journey... Hampton. |
